Wolf's rain.

I admit it, the name of this blog was inspired partially by this manga, the first that I read and the first that I really loved.
The aim of all the characters of this manga, that takes place in a post nuclear war world, in the end is the same that every man in the world pursuit, the pursuit of happiness, in this case enbodied by the Rakuen, the paradice where the wolves rule supreme which path is showed by some flowers that bloom only in the nights of full moon.
Yes, cause the characters that make the band of the manga are all wolves, that have to take an human aspect to save themselves from the human rage and hostility.
And so starts a trip that will go norther and norther, into a world that is singing its requiem and to reach finally the eternal night when also the moon becomes red.
Of course there are many opposing to this trip, not ready to cease the paradice to soem wolves or to let the world and the person beloved die.
In fact the pursuit of ethernal life and the foolishness that becomes from this are another constant theme of this manga, that will never show all its magic untill the very end.
But in the end the paradice really exist?

Wolf's rain, alla ricerca del paradiso.

Lo ammetto, il nome di questo blog deriva anche da questo manga, il primo che abbia mai letto e completato.
Lo scopo principale di tutti i protagonisti di questo manga, ambientato in un mondo post nuclearizzato e ormai prossimo alla sua fine, è lo stesso che ogni altro essere umano si propone, la ricerca della felicità, in questo caso rappresentata dal Rakuen, il paradiso dove i lupi regnano supremi, la cui via è un sentiero tracciato da dei fiori che sbocciano solo al plenilunio.
Infatti i cinque componenti della banda protagonista sono tutti lupi, che per sopravvivere alla diffidenza ed ostilità umana devono fingersi umani anche loro.
E cosi parte con non poche vicissitudini e battaglie un lungo viaggio attraverso un mondo che è al suo requiem, muovendosi sempre più verso nord e verso quella notte eterna che sta per avvolgere tutto e tutti.
Naturalmente c'è chi non si vuole arrendere a lasciare morire cosi il mondo e a dare il paradiso a dei lupi, e la ricerca della vita eterna e la follia che ne seguono sono un altro tasto continuo lungo tutto il manga, che non mostrerà tutte le sue tonalità finchè non si arriverà all'epilogo.
Ma alla fine il paradiso esisterà veramente?

Vinland Saga.

Blood, violence, heroical acts, men out of ordinary, mythical lands, there are all the recipes for a great manga in Vinland Saga, eccept that is all real (or realistic)
Vinland is a manga that will not make you feel bored at all, but all the context is historically set in the middle age northen europe, when the vikings were the rulers of the sea and of the destiny of whole nations, and reading the pages of the manga you will meet many historical people that have put their names in the legend, such as Leif Eriksson, Canute I of Denmark, the Jomvikings (wolves of the north) and so on.
Also the places are real and the scenes move from the idilliac and hostile Iceland untill the bloodied battlefields of the XI century England.
For sure the scenes of violence and battle will disturb the guts of many, but in the end the historical accuracy of this manga comes from also by the harshness of the stories told.
Those were years in which the very heart of europe was forged by the fire of war and tempred by the blood of many warriors, proud to give their lives for their land or Gods and reach the valhalla, the nordic pagan vertion of the paradise.
Was a time in which the very spirit of europe was forged and that saw the rise of the first (and still most powerfull) nations of the old continent.
The only misfortune for all my connationals is that the only vertions avaible of this manga, both on the internet and printed, are written still in japanese or english, but it worth the effort to read this manga, also to see a piece of history that usually is never remembered.

Vinland Saga

Sangue, violenza, gesta eroiche, uomini fuori dall'ordinario, terre leggendarie, c'è tutto quello che caratterizza un manga in Vinland Saga, eccezion fatta che è tutto vero (o veritiero).

Vinland infatti come tutti i manga non manca di presentare enormi colpi di scena e scontri che sembrano al di fuori delle umane possibilità, ma il contesto è storico e sfogliandone le pagine vi capiterà di incontrare personaggi storici dell'epoca vichinga, come Leif Eriksson, Canuto I di Danimarca e molti altri ancora.

Ed anche i luoghi narrati sono tutti storici ed ancora rintracciabili nelle più basilari cartine europee, infatti si passa dalla fredda e magica Islanda fino ai campi di battaglia insanguinati dell'Inghilterra del XI secolo.

Di certo le scene di violenza e battaglia che vi capiterà di vedere sfogliando le pagine del manga potrebbero disturbare lo stomaco di molti, ma alla fine la validità storica di questo manga (che è altissima) deriva anche dalla crudezza delle imagini e delle storie che narra.

Quelli erano anni in cui il cuore dell'europa veniva forgiano nel ferro e fuoco delle guerre e temprato dal sangue dei guerrieri morti, una forgia dalla quale sarebbero sorti alcuni dei più antichi e tuttora prosperi stati nazionali del vecchio continente.

L'unica sfortuna (per molti miei connazionali) è che le versioni al momento presenti sia su internet che su carta sono in giapponese ed inglese, ma credetemi vale sul serio la pena di sforzare un pò le meningi rispolverando il nostro arruginito inglese per leggere Vinland!
